infomatique > Dublin Is Not Always Grey
It is very unusual to see a pub in Ireland with the letter "E" missing from it sign ... business must not be good. This Pub, on Eden Quay, is a few yards away from O\'Connell street, other than that I know nothing about it.
infomatique > Dublin Is Not Always Grey
The George located on South Great George\'s St. in Dublin\'s city centre, is Ireland\'s oldest gay bar and club. It opened in 1985 as a small discreet bar opposite a gay sauna that preserved the anonymity of its clientele. The George has operated for 22 years as a gay venue in Ireland, where homosexuality was illegal until 1993.
infomatique > The Deaf Judge Pub, Dublin
This pub in Dublin is very close to the Four Courts. I did not notice until after I posted this photograph that the man in the picture is very small relative to the door.

infomatique > SMOKING BAN IN DUBLIN
One of the results of the smoking ban in Ireland is that many people now go outside to smoke and during good weather they bring their drinks with them. This photograph was taken outside a Dublin Pub at mid day on a Saturday. Dublin is dirty enough without having glasses and beer bottles on the streets.

Controversy has surrounded the introduction of laws prohibiting public smoking in places like California and New South Wales and there is still debate over whether they work.

Supporters say they prevent passive smoking, encourage smokers to quit and prevent people taking up the habit, while opponents argue they damage business and are ineffective.

But once it is clear how the ban has worked in Ireland it is thought there may be a "domino effect" across Europe.

In case you are wondering why this PUB is closed ... many do not open until noon.
